Stand and Stare

She sits huddled in the room,
A mess on the floor,
The curtains drawn and the door shut,
The moonlight seeping through the cracks,
The wind blows back the hair over her face,
And you see her tears streaked cheeks,
You see mascara leaving a messy trail,
And you see those eyes,
Eyes filled with pain and despair,
Despair that you will never forget,
Yet you do nothing,
Just stand and stare,
You see the dress lying in a heap around her,
A pile of navy blue and black,
You think back and wonder what happened,
But you do nothing but just stand and stare,
She is unaware of you,
But just like everyone else who has seen her like this,
You do nothing,
And help never reaches her,
You watch in horror as her life is taken away,
Taken away by none other than her,
And you have done nothing but just stand and stare.

Forever

Every time I think of you,
My heart flutters,
My breath is caught,
And my throat constricts,
My hand aches for yours,
My eyes play tricks on me,
And you appear everywhere,
All other sounds are drowned out,
As I remember yours,
So sweet,
And so caring,
I sigh,
I wish you were here next to me,
And as I open my eyes,
I swear I see you right there,
Your hand molds into mine,
Your arms wrapped around me,
And dream or reality,
I know this is how I want to stay forever.

Not Worth It

I never feel that I’m worth the pain,
But if you see something in me,
And decide you want to be with me,
I can never complain,
All I can do is warn you,
I’m not worth it.

Love Changes

Every step I took was of a soldier’s,
Hurt by war and constant life,
But too proud to reveal the hurt and pain raging inside of me,
I hid in the shadows, in my own dark world,
Putting up an act to please others,
But hurting inside,
I didn’t believe in fairytales or happy endings,
I never looked forward to waking up to the world,
Or sleeping to the nightmares that haunted my sleep,
But then heaven sent down an angel,
And my life no longer was a façade,
You taught me to hope,
To smile,
To laugh,
To love my imperfections,
And to dream,
And now when I smile, my eyes twinkle,
When I laugh, I laugh from my soul,
When I think of you my heart flutters,
And when I cry, you know they are tears of happiness,
When I have my hand in yours, I have with me heaven’s divine,
May my life’s breathe find refuge in your heart,
Destroyed in your love may my life depart,
My breath was incomplete,
My heartbeat incomplete,
But no, the moon is full complete, complete in the sky,
And complete am I.

Lie In Pain

If anyone ever took the time,
To look into my eyes,
They’d see that that everything isn’t so fine,
As I say it is.

That underneath this façade,
Of smiles and laughter,
There’s a girl in pain,
Bent over, in agony.

Unable to cry,
When she has to laugh,
Laugh to lie,
Lie in pain.
