Original:
We’re annoyed by people expecting too much,
They’re tired of walking in the scorching sun, as their backs strain under the heavy loads,
We’re annoyed by others eating slices of our personal pizzas,
They’re tired of long nights with no food, watching others neglect the food they have,
We’re annoyed when we have to stand in front of a class, and present something,
They’re tired of sitting on the sidewalks, having people walking by, with barely a glance,
We’re annoyed by our bedroom walls that seem too childish now,
They’re tired of sleeping on the dirty ground, shivering in the cold,
We’re annoyed by others spilling our secrets,
They’re tired of their own friends, stealing their little amount of valuables,
We’re annoyed by a single stain on a shirt,
They’re tired of wearing the same clothes all year long,
We’re annoyed by talks by our parents about Ivy League colleges
They’re tired of an unknown future,
We take everything we have for granted,
They barely have anything,
We whine about the simplest of matters,
They work long, hard days without a peep,
We expect others to congratulate us for the little work we do,
They go unnoticed in the background, not even daring to hope for a “good job”,
We eat out,
They don’t eat,
We go to the mall,
They build more malls,
We go stay at a hotel,
They clean our rooms,
We take a shower,
They’re lucky to wash their face,
We dream,
They have nightmares,
We are different,
They don’t have to be.
